Guatemala Mission Team Report
April 26, 2008
It has only been one short week since the ten of us returned from an amazing seven days
in Guatemala. Our mission was to share the love of Jesus in a variety of ways and to be a
blessing to the people of the village. It's funny how that love and those blessings came
right back to us.
On Sunday we attended two church services and our four youth performed sign art to "I
Can Only imagine" - the Spanish version.
Day one at the school and feeding center was photos and frames with the kids and a
sewing project with the women. We shared a Bible lesson with the children about how
God made each of them special; and with the women we shared how important they are
as a part of God's ministry. The children were so proud of the pictures of themselves and
the women were excited to have a new outfit to wear the next day.
On day two we served breakfast to the women and shared childcare tips with them. The
Bible lesson emphasized how important it is for them to tell their children about Jesus;
and we also shared God's plan of salvation with them. After they completed an art
project, we made pictures of them in their new shirts and skirts.
The activity with the children that day involved washing about 500 little feet in an effort
to display an attitude of servanthood. Each child was then given a new pair of shoes and
the smiles and excitement were priceless.
